This is a clear reference to The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, which also contains a horrifying dinner sequence that involves deceased family members propped up at the table and seated as dinner guests. She gets rid of the evidence of her crimes against her lover and sister-in-law before cleaning up her parent's corpses and seating them at the dinner table. She then murderers her sister-in-law, in whom she had confided her violent acts, and goes on to clean up after herself to restore her home. This series of events causes something to snap in her that results in a genuine break from reality. ![]() Pearl has killed her lover and her parents, then she fails a dance audition, which means her life's ambition to become famous can never come true.
